Keep an eye out for a new facebook application to be released hopefully within the next few weeks. This will be my first facebook app, but definitely not the last once I learn the API. If the application is a success, I may also look at porting it over to MySpace as well. (Don't want to release details about the app just yet.)
1/27 - Added individual family members' playlists to their pages.
1/26 - Added Playlist.com music player to the site
1/25 - Added RoundCube webmail for talidan.com email addresses (still working on integrating with Yahoo, Gmail and Heramb.net accounts)
1/24 - Skinned ZenPhoto with the new Heramb.net layout (css still a little buggy in IE)
1/23 - Redesigned Heramb.net using tableless, expandable layout.
With no kids in town, Carrie and I took the opportunity to go out and have some fun. We ended up taking it back to middle school by going to the skating rink with Christian and Emily. Then we all headed to their place to have a "pajama dance party". Needless to say, this was one memorable night.
Months ago I went golfing with Christian and his parents. While taking a break in the clubhouse before starting the back nine, Dean starts telling jokes. Of all the jokes, one had me rolling. Later that week, we were trying to remember this one particular joke and simply couldn't. Months passed and occasionally I'd ask if anyone happened to remember the joke, but no one could. Then as I'm getting home from volleyball late one night, I get a call from Christian and he says "I've got it!". I'm posting it here so that we don't forget it again next week.
The Joke
Q: How do you catch a polar bear while ice fishing?
A: Cut a hole in the ice and put 3 peas around the edge of the hole. When the polar bear comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole.
(For those of you who are a little slower, "ice hole" sounds a lot like "@$$ hole")
Thanks Margaret for the correction on the joke
Not the funniest joke in the world, but it had me rolling and we sure couldn't remember it for anything.
As I expected, the swim was the hardest part for me. I ran into the water with my wave of competitors and then just panicked. Once I realized that I was getting tired and couldn't just grab the wall to take a break, I swam straight for the lifeguard on the jet ski. After hanging on for a few seconds, I started off again and finally finished the swim leg in 11:23 (300 overall). (My buddy Jon "SuperFish" Doran passed me, and he started 3 minutes after me!) Once I was back on land, I got into the groove and had a decent bike leg that will definitely improve once I get some nicer components installed. (40:40, 286 overall) The run, though still not as fast as I had hoped, was my strong point and I did well on it. (24:19, 93rd overall) My goal for the race was to finish in under 1:20:00, and with a time of 1:16:21, I did that by over 3 minutes.

My goal for next year is to go under 1:05:00. I think with a little confidence in my swim, new components on the bike, and an earlier kick in the run, I'll be able to get close to one hour even.
Carrie and Joani competed in the Hotlips Hustle 5k Saturday morning. Both did a great job and were moving so fast at the finish line that they almost ran directly into moving traffic! They finished in about 34:51. After the race, they even got a picture with Wedgie, the big tomato mascot of Sweet Tomatoes.
Training for my first triathlon on October 11, 2008. Going to be competing in the "Multisport Destin Sprint Triathlon". The distances are as follows: 400meter swim, 10mile bike, 3mile run. I'm a little worried about the swim, mostly because it's open water, but I should be ready for it by the time October gets here.
I've added a training log (powered by MapMyRun) to the site to keep track of my training and hopefully to inspire my buddies to register for the race as well.
We just received dvds with the pictures in the mail. Thanks to Deb Creel for the awesome pictures and the slideshow (which I'll get posted soon hopefully).

The inaugural Impulse basketball tournament was the place to be! Bets were placed and trash talk was heard all the way up to the tip-off.
At first the competition was fierce with players trading baskets
and impossible shots being made left and right
Even Jeff got out there and gave a freethrow shooting clinic!
